00176182_cgb_crossingThe guided bus cuts Station Road in Histon and Impington and there’s quite a complex crossing set-up including a diagonal for cyclists. But because a green man can only be given to pedestrians crossing the busway itself when both Station Road and the busway have red lights the green man time for parents and their children walking to school has been very short.

Dscn4259_freedom_busThe County Council’s bus consultation ends 4pm on Friday 9 Dec 11. The Council will use the results of this consultation to help it to decide whether or not to continue supporting the weekly 110 ‘freedom bus’ service from Histon and Impington to Ely and the daily 106 service from Cottenham to Ely.

Dscn4772_b1049_lamp_postThe good news this week was that the County Council’s contractor had started to replace all the old lamp posts on Cottenham Road. However the bad news appeared to be that although the new posts were not in the centre of the cycle path many of them were still on the cycle, albeit close to the edge.

The good news is that it allows communities to set their own speed limits; they will not need the approval of the County Council as long as they consult properly. The bad news is that they will have to pay for them themselves.

Dsc02847_edited-1_crop_jc_bus_meeting Following the excellent response to Jonathan’s request for input regarding Histon and Impington’s bus service and Stagecoach’s recent change of it to the citi8 Andy Campbell, Stagecoch MD, agreed to meet him along with county councillors Sue Gymer and David Jenkins and representatives of both parish councils. The meeting took place last Monday and Andy was accompanied by Ross Burton.
